But as the world grows ever more complicated, smart cities will need talented engineers, with the ability to communicate across disciplines. McMaster University is working to prepare engineers for just this kind of role. With research looking into everything from water supply, energy efficiency, risk management and construction safety, students at McMaster are able to get to grips with anything, as well as form direct links with McMaster's many industrial partners. There's an exciting future, and McMaster's right at the heart of it.
