ATLAS (Center for Accessible Teaching, Learning and Assessment Systems, at the University of Kansas)
A Road Map for Student Learning
Fine-grained maps are a powerful basis to drive instruction and assessment that helps all students meet the highest-possible academic expectations. At ATLAS at the University of Kansas, educators have developed comprehensive maps based on extensive research and principles of universal design to show the multiple pathways by which students develop their academic knowledge, skills, and understandings. The maps stretch from foundational skills needed to access academics to the high school expectations reflected in many states’ high school college and career readiness standards. To understand the impact these maps are having on educators and their students, CEC-TV traveled to Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines, Iowa.
