The Maternal Child Health section in the Georgia Department of Public Health aims to improve the lives of families in the Georgia area and surrounding states. Centring is a program to guide mothers and expected mothers through pregnancy and early years. Offering group sessions and one-on-ones, they’ve seen significant data in relation to lowering the infant mortality rate. The Baby Luv program, focuses on the care of high risk African American women. Partnering with local churches, hospitals and the Bank of America in order to promote healthy birth outcomes in the state of Georgia. Since the introduction of these programs infant mortality rates in Georgia have significantly dropped. The Georgia Department of Public Heath hope to continue to improve health conditions for the state of Georgia and the entire country.
