Mathematics is at the heart of research at NEC Corporation. NEC has long had a strong base of world-class technologies and outstanding roster of researchers and has made major contributions to technology based on these assets throughout its long history. Today, at NEC’s Central Research Laboratories, based in Tokyo, Japan, the research team are using high level mathematics to make the next major leaps forward in a range of cutting-edge technologies. In cryptography researchers are working on Blockhain and IoT Security to ensure data is kept safe, and users can remain confident about the systems behind. In quantum computing, NEC are using quantum annealing to ensure the next generation of computing is as efficent and effective as possible. And in artificial intelligence, researchers are providing the latest facial recognition technology to airports and national ID systems around the world. With the potential to fundamentally change the way we use devices and software, NEC Corporation and its top researchers are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible through a strong grounding in mathematics.
