Conducting Unique Research at the Forefront of Materials Science
J-PARC (Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex)
Here at J-PARC, we are trying to answer very fundamental questions for human kind, how our universe began, how the matter and life and their varieties emerged.
It is a unique multi-purpose research facility engaged in basic science and industrial applications basing on world-class high-intensity proton accelerators. We have the world-highest pulsed neutron and muon sources which provides beams for users of Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF). With such beams and experimental equipments, various experiments are carried out to reveal materials structure and function.
In addition, J-PARC is one of the world centers of particle and nuclear studies. For example, the T2K experiment carried out here is a world leading neutrino experiment, which has discovered appearance of electron-type neutrino from muon-type neutrino. Hadron Experimental Facility is a unique laboratory where particle and nuclear physicists come to use its unique beams to explore the new physics laws beyond the standard model.
Diversity of users, from academia to industrial sectors from all over the world, for a wide range of science and technologies, explored by the multi-purpose facility and interdisciplinary interactions of users are important characters of J-PARC.
