The Fetal Heart Program at Center for Advanced Fetal Care at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, was created in 2008 as a way of bringing together all of the areas of specialty dealing with pregnant women and fetuses with congenital heart defects. As a centre, they have the privilege to take care of a large number of high risk patients with congenital heart defects. Their central objectives are to diagnose congenital heart defects as early and as accurately as possible during the pregnancy, to create personalized prenatal care and optimize the delivery plan across the multidisciplinary team. and to ensure that families receive the highest quality care during pregnancy and as a result to improve outcomes after birth.
