Creating Solutions for Patients and their Families
Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center
The Johnson Depression Center was created to out of vision to not just provide world-class, evidence-based care, but to also change how mental health is perceived and understood. The name “Depression Center” was chosen specifically to reduce stigma, similar to the naming of various cancer centers across the country.
The Center opened in 2008 with a goal to better understand, identify, and treat people with depression, bipolar, and related conditions such as anxiety. The JDC meets this goal by focusing on three core areas: Research, Clinical Care, and Free Community and Education Programs. And now the Center is growing, focusing on areas of need and making concerted plans and efforts to address the gaps between physical and mental health.
