DKMS
More than a donor center
DKMS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and other blood disorders, founded in Germany in 1991 by Dr. Peter Harf. Since then, the goal has been to provide as many blood cancer patients as possible with a second chance at life. DKMS is today the global leader in providing life-saving stem cell transplants to patients.
DKMS operates in Germany, the USA, Poland, the UK, Chile and India together with BMST Foundation. Together, they have registered 10 million potential blood stem cell donors and have given nearly 85,000 patients across the globe a second chance at life by facilitating blood stem cell transplants.
Aware of the need for a multifaceted approach, DKMS continues to extend its mission and is currently investing in providing access to transplantation. Beyond that DKMS also conducts own scientific research and sets in its laboratory, the DKMS Life Science Lab, benchmarks with the typing profile of new blood stem cell donors. As such DKMS is far more than a donor center.
