Particle physicists solve mysteries of matter, energy, space and time. And K-12 classrooms come alive when synergies between educators and particle physicists develop effective STEM experiences. Teachers gain insight into scientific and engineering practices and instructional materials provide opportunities for students to ‘do’ science. At Fermilab and 50 other QuarkNet centers nationwide, high school physics teachers are partnering with the particle physics research community. Their students are taking measurements with authentic data and developing relationships with physicists who become role models for both the students and the teachers.
