For MSU Anthropology students, the focus is on experiential learning across all four fields offered by the Department. Whether you are studying physical anthropology, medical anthropology, socio-cultural anthropology or anthropological linguistics, there are a wide variety of rich hands-on experiences inside and outside of campus. From preserving artifacts under the earth of the original campus or faraway Belize, to working real forensic cases for Michigan Law Enforcement officials, MSU faculty work hard to give students real world skills and experiences. To quote Professor and Interim Chair Jodie O’Gorman, “We work towards an understanding of the human condition, past and present, in countries across the world and in our own backyards.”
