HIV prevention is one of six winnable battles identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These are public health priorities with large-scale impact on health and known effective strategies to address them. Social determinants of health are significant factors in the ability to meet the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy: Updated to 2020. The Capacity Building Assistance Provider Network (CPN) is working to increase the capacity of the HIV-prevention workforce to address social determinants of health and assist in advancing health in a variety of community settings. The CPN is funded by CDC to provide free training, technical assistance, consultation, and information that is rooted in science, data-driven, and reflective of and culturally responsive to HIV prevention organizations and the clients they serve. They increase the capacity of U.S. health departments, community-based organizations, and healthcare organizations to provide high-impact HIV prevention services. CPN services are aligned with the National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States: Updated to 2020.
