Uniting Physics in Stockholm
AlbaNova University Center, Stockholm, Sweden
AlbaNova is a joint university center for the Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. It contains a broad spectrum of scientific research, education, and outreach, from physics to biotechnology. AlbaNova hosts the world’s oldest institute for theoretical physics, Nordita, “owned” by the five Nordic countries, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Nordita has a small number of permanently employed faculty, and a research staff consisting of assistant professors, PhD students, postdocs and visitors. By hosting scientific programs, conferences and workshops, Nordita serves as a hub for theoretical physics in the Nordic countries, and has a strong international flavour.
