SNMMI TV 2019

WebsEdge/Health presents SNMMI TV at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Annual Meeting. Held from June 22- 25, 2019 in Anaheim, CA.

Medical University of Vienna - Division of Nuclear Medicine

From Biomarker Research to Personalized Treatment

The main focus of the Division of Nuclear Medicine at the Medical University Vienna is to improve the role of nuclear medicine in guiding patients towards targeted therapy as well as to predict and monitor treatment response. The division has set up a strong biomarker development group, which in parts takes place in the context of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics. This institute, like many other activities has a strong relation to molecular biology and pathology groups to enable mechanistical insights and identification of potential treatment relevant targets. Furthermore, a dual biomarker concept is developed, enabling the correlation of liquid biopsy analyses with PET and SPECT imaging for better understanding of in-vivo mechanisms and translation into the daily clinical routine. Another nuclear Medicine institute, the Christian Doppler Laboratory Applied Metabolism is backtranslating in-vivo metabolic PET scans into underlying genetical patterns to predict actionable gene mutations of PET scans with the help of novel artificial intelligence concepts. These activities are in collaboration with the Quantitative Imaging and Medical Physics (QIMP) group, which are accompanying our activities with specific expertise in hybrid Imaging and kinetic modelling techniques.
